$61.00

Cocoa ~ Wood ~ Mineral ~ Toasted Brown Rice

Lao Cong "Old Bush" Shui Xian is a light to medium fired rock oolong from the protected Zheng Yan area of the Wuyi Heritage site. The finest trees are located in the scenic points of Matouyan, Huiyuankeng, and Shuiliandong. Trees aged more than 50-60 years produce the finest quality leaves.

This medium roast tea presents with a profile of toasted brown rice, wood, rich cocoa and chocolate, giving way to headier notes of chestnut honey and roasted barley. The tea enjoys a sweetness and gentleness not found in younger plants. The Shui Xian cultivar is often referred to as Narcissus, because it's evocative floral aroma is similar to the blooming flower.

The term 'Rock Tea', or Yancha (yan 'rock' cha 'tea') refers to oolong teas from the Wuyi Mountains. The terrain of this mountainous region is rocky, and the terroir imparts a distinct mineral note to the teas.

This tea was grown without pesticides, fertilizers or pesticides.
