This handcrafted, Bozoku Kyusu Teapot fits beautifully in the hand. Refined in function, its delightful proportions and sublimely smooth Tokoname-clay body endeared our hearts upon first sight. The pot includes a fine, built-in ceramic strainer to contain the slender tea leaves or toasted rice of genmaicha.
Tokoname, Japan is home to one of the six old kiln districts. There is said to be over 3000 ancient kilns sites along the Chita peninsula. Although Tokoname crafts several types of pottery, they are most famous for their kyusu tea pots. The fine clay, unique to the area, allows for very refined details and intricate surface carving.
