Bonsai curious? Aren't we all. This wonderful set is part of our new Bonsai Lover Collection. Sipping tea, attending to the tree, raking dirt, brushing away clippings; it's all incredibly satisfying. We've always had a yen for bonsai, from the magnificent specimens found in rare collections (and Narita International Airport) to the more unusual characters found nearly anywhere. In addition to the marvelous plants, the tools are equally engaging and part of the pleasure. Virginia is yesterday's news: Bonsai is for Lovers™.
The practice of Bonsai originated in China and found its way to Japan via Korea. While on its grand tour, this unique art form became a favored practice of the ancient elite. Thankfully, bonsai is now enjoyed by people from all walks of life (not just lovers or the aristocracy) and a symbol of harmony, balance, patience and luck.
Bonsai translates to 'pot landscape' and the oldest specimens are over 1000 years old. It is a slow, beautiful practice that can endure through generations. However, most people simply enjoy bonsai as living ornaments for interior design, while other such as Zen Buddhists, believe the bonsai is an object of meditation or contemplation.
The Setsuki Bonsai Set includes:
- Setsuki Scissors - Primarily designed for trimming and delicate work in thin branches and narrow spaces. With a small handle and a long body, this slim design separates the hand far from the blade, allowing the user to reach deeper places with precision. It severs wood fibers cleanly resulting in faster healing cuts.
- Bonsai Rake and Tweezers - 2-in-1 tip side works well for removing dead leaves, insects and weeds or applying moss on your bonsai plants. The rake is great for repotting, stirring up and smoothing soil and moss of your bonsai.
- Windmill Palm Bonsai Broom - Convenient for cleaning fallen leaves and branches after pruning the bonsai. It is ideal for removing small things around the bonsai that cannot be removed by hand. It is also used for leveling up the soil after repotting.
