Footed Tea Bowl, No. 8

A fluid and organic vessel in warm shades of deserts hues, reminiscent of canyon walls, this sublime tea bowl was hand-thrown by American studio potter Lilith Rockett. The bowl elegantly perches upon a faceted, hand-carved foot. This piece was wood and soda fired for two continuous days. This piece is number 8 in a series of 8.

Lilith's work, created by hand on her potter's wheel in Portland, Oregon, reveals a deep interest in exploring the qualities of the material: translucency, fluidity, density, and the velvety softness of an unglazed polished surface. Her refined forms and vessels call attention to subtle nuances of line and shadow, with a delight in the quiet imperfections that characterize the handmade.

"I believe interacting with the handmade enriches us by enhancing our feeling of connectedness. Our interactions with the objects in our lives are part of how we create meaning and personal rituals, like sharing a cup of tea or keeping treasures in a special bowl. These details invite us to the moment, to a presence in the moment, a quiet celebration of the experience of living."  Lilith Rockett
