tsuyuhikari kabuse sencha


 A delightful organic first flush, or shincha, from deep within Shizuoka, Japan. Mr. Konishi, the charming creator of this tea, has delighted us with this elegant, green tea created from the Tsuyuhikari cultivar which is shaded during the last two weeks before harvest, a technique that brings out more of the essential oils and flavors that the leaf naturally yields.

About No. 57, Tsuyuhikari Kabuse Sencha

 A delightful organic first flush, or shincha, from deep within Shizuoka, Japan. Mr. Konishi, the charming creator of this tea, has delighted us with this elegant, green tea created from the Tsuyuhikari cultivar which is shaded during the last two weeks before harvest, a technique that brings out more of the essential oils and flavors that the leaf naturally yields. (This tea is very similar to a gyokuro, which is also shaded.)

 Rich notes of umami warm up against the almost voluptuous, oceanic quality of the liquor, finishing with delicate hint of spun sugar.  

Origin: Kawanehon, Haibara District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan - 2023

Tasting Notes: Umami ~ Oceanic ~ Mineral ~ Herbaceous

Farmer: Mr. Konishi

    • brewing

      • 1-2 tsp per 8oz/250ml of water  
      • 160ºF/65ºC  (Bring fresh, cold spring water to a boil. Remove from heat, set aside 5 minutes, and proceed.)  
      • Brew 2-4 minutes  
      • Good for 2 infusions
