No. 21, Matcha Aoarashi (Ceremonial Grade)


The most brilliant of greens, Bellocq Ceremonial Grade Matcha is sourced from some of the finest tea leaves in Japan. An exceptional, powdered Japanese green tea, this unique style of matcha is well known for its use in chanoyu, the highly structured traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

The specially-grown leaves are shaded during their last few weeks of growth, then the leaves, or tencha, is de-stemmed, processed and stone-ground to a fine, brilliant green powder. This clean source of energy is perfect at all times of the day, on it's own or in a creamy latte. The Ceremonial Grade Aorashi Matcha, is lightly astringent with rich, smooth notes of cocoa and fresh, sweet grass.

    • Brewing Instructions

      • 3/4 tsp per 6oz/177ml of water or to your taste
      • Place the matcha into the sifter and tap the substance through the mesh
      • 160ºF/72ºC  (Bring fresh, cold spring water to a boil. Remove from heat, set aside 5 minutes, and proceed.)  
      • Whisk with a traditional matcha whisk, or chasen, or stir until the surface froths, about 1 minute.
